Your Lordship will see that effect has been given to the wish expressed in Your Lordship's despatch No. 261 of 11th November, 1892, by the insertion of provision under the head "Miscellaneous" for a grant of $2,000 to the Chinese College of Medicine. A corresponding saving has been effected under "Police - other charges" by the deletion of the grant to the District Watchmen's fund.

The fund is not at present in need of assistance from the Government, and the deletion has been made with the concurrence of the Directors, but on the understanding that if in future years it is shown that the fund can properly claim aid from Government, the grant will be renewed.
